I REFER to the article, 'First-time buyers get better shot at executive condos' (ST, Nov21).
It seems the Housing Board is anticipating that there will be demand for executive condominiums (ECs). Hence, it has eased the rules on the purchase of ECs.
However, I think there is a far greater demand for new HDB flats, judging from demand-versus-supply figures in previous HDB monthly exercises.
Many young couples today would prefer to live in flats, where the financial commitments are smaller.
Thus, the HDB should be building new flats or making more units available for sale rather than launching ECs.
