Comprehensive labour survey to be conducted from May

A comprehensive labour force survey will be conducted from May this year.

The Manpower Research and Statistics Department of the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) will conduct the survey on a sample of 33,000 households from May 23 to July 31 this year. Through the survey, data on employment, unemployment, and other economic characteristics of the population will be collected to help in the planning and formulation of manpower-related policies and programmes.

Selected households will be notified by post. Households with Internet access are encouraged to participate in the survey via the Manpower Survey Online System (MSOL).

Those who prefer not to participate through MSOL can provide their contact details to MOM for telephone interviews through the Survey Hotline at 6592 1067 from 8.30am to 5.30pm on weekdays.

Personal visits will be conducted for those who are unable to be reached by telephone by interviewers who will display an MOM-issued identification card.

The survey is conducted under Section 5 of the Statistics Act (Chapter 317) which requires households selected for the survey to provide MOM with the necessary information. All information collected will be kept strictly confidential.
