UBS quarterly profit slumps 58%

ZURICH - Swiss banking giant UBS on Tuesday reported that net profit slid by 58.1 per cent to 425 million Swiss francs (353.8 million euros, S$544.3 million) in the second quarter of 2012.

The result was sharply lower than expected by analysts polled by Swiss agency AWP, which had predicted on average a net profit of 1.1 billion Swiss francs.
