3 tips for workers to up their employability

I HAVE friends who fear for their jobs during this economic downturn.

I have a few suggestions for workers to improve their employability and chances of being retained at their job:

Be positive at work Bosses like workers with a positive attitude.

They would prefer to retain staff who brighten the workplace with their optimism and light-heartedness.

So, always smile and acknowledge others at the workplace.

Even if the company is doing badly, such an attitude would help improve the mood in the office.

Go for bonded training

The last time I went for a diploma course sponsored by my company, I had to sign a two-year bond.

Though I was initially reluctant, I was glad later as I was assured of a job for two years.

Prepare for the next job

A bank-executive friend is helping out at his friend's Western-food stall.

He told me that he plans to set up a Western-food stall and that the experience he is getting now would help him greatly when the time comes.
