GMP Recruitment Services
The GMP Group started offering recruitment services for technical placements in manufacturing firms 16 years ago. Today, it continues the search for top talent, and more.
Whether the client is a high-profile firm on a global search for a senior executive, a junior employee seeking out better prospects, an employer looking to outsource its human resource operations or a student looking for career guidance, GMP has it covered.
"We offer a full range of staffing services across all industries and levels, through six specialist divisions," says the chief executive of The GMP Group, Ms Annie Yap, 36.
Turnover from its Singapore headquarters and offices in Malaysia, Thailand, China and Hong Kong reached nearly $90 million last year. "GMP's turnover performance has steadily increased year-on-year, seeing its fastest growth in the last three years at an average of $12 million increase per annum," adds Ms Yap.
Success follows from having a well-run organisation that is in tune with customer and industry needs, she says. "GMP believes in a clear client-driven attitude, going the distance to understand their business and needs, so that the solution we provide does not leave them wanting at all.
"GMP never overlooks or assumes better knowledge of our clients. Instead, we listen to the minute details and work towards a beneficial partnership."
And when the trend arose for companies to outsource their human resource functions, GMP quickly responded with the development of Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO) under its GMP Outsourcing division.
"Instead of subscribing to a 'one-size-fits all' approach, we perpetuate a flexible style in our business strategies. It has enabled us to conceive winning solutions for market needs and stay on top of trends," Ms Yap observes.
"To stay competitive, high-performance businesses need to be able to adapt and embrace the ever-advancing face of technology," she says.
"Recently, GMP adopted a new US-based talent management system that is the most cutting-edge of its kind, allowing us to serve our clients and candidates much faster. Because of the increased efficiency, the placements that we make have a higher rate of accuracy as well."
Having set a blistering pace for itself, Ms Yap is keen to refine GMP's menu of services to address unique requirements in different industries, and preserve its place at the head of the pack. "To keep an edge over the competition, GMP's growth strategy is geared towards further specialisation. This is critical for us to support the demands of the new economy," she says.
More expansion is also on the cards, with plans to enter the Australian, Japanese, Filipino, Vietnamese and Middle Eastern markets in the next five years. Ms Yap adds: "Besides our franchise programme that we have already set in motion, we are also looking into mergers and acquisitions as possible modes of entry into markets with high potential."
Ms Yap says GMP's third consecutive Enterprise 50 award will allow the company to take stock of its successes and look to the future. "Winning the award for the third straight year re-establishes faith and confidence in our brand among our stakeholders.
"The award is a yardstick for us to measure our forward momentum. It serves as an evaluation of the status quo which will be instrumental in charting new short and long-term directions for the company."
