Former engineers run personalised concierge service
GEORGE TOWN: They were busy young engineers who didnt even have time to do their errands. So they quit their jobs and decided to just run errands - for themselves and for others.
The five enterprising engineers have set up a company called Vibrant Lifestyle to provide personalised concierge service.
One of the partners Julius Tan, 25, said he and his partners were inspired to set up such a company after being faced with problems in finding time to do their errands because of their hectic schedules.
They raised RM80,000 among themselves and set up a modest office at i-Avenue in Bayan Lepas in May.
To date they have 200 clients to service and run errands ranging from shopping for groceries, catering, planning holidays, paying bills and even walking the dogs.
Tan, who handles the business development of the company, said he and his partners were IT and mechanical engineers at factories in Bayan Lepas but found their jobs hectic and taking up their time so much so they hardly had free time to run errands.
He said many people spent so much time in the office that they had little time to pay their bills, shop for groceries or even plan their holidays.
Another partner Cherrie Choong, 25, said personal concierge services might be something unheard of here but not new in Western countries.
In the US, such service cost about RM350 for two hours but we only charge RM25, she said.
Our services varies from grocery shopping to sourcing for cleaners, gardeners, pet services and providing reminders and transport services.
Choong said they would carry out some of the tasks themselves and outsource those that they could not handle.
She said that the company planned to hold roadshows and publish a book on the importance of having quality time.
We hope our company can provide a better lifestyle for the people, she said adding that they publicised their services by word of mouth, through the internet, flyers and brochures.
The three other partners are Adrian Chew, 27, Teoh Kah Weng, 26, and Kathryn Saw, 25.
