1 Capture your iPhone screen image
To capture an image of whatever you have on the screen, simply hold the centre home button and then press and release the power button. The screen will flash for a second and the image will be stored in the Photo Album under Camera Roll.
2 Get currency exchange rates
Not only can you add your stocks and market indices such as the Straits Times Index (STI), you can also get the Stock application to display a graph of the currency exchange rates.
Simply click on the small round
(i) button at the bottom right-hand corner of the Stock program. Then, click on the + button to add a new entry. Enter usdsgd=x and click on the Search button.
Click only on the entry that is returned (for example, USDSGD=X ? USD to SGD) and you have the exchange rate shown on the main screen, complete with graphs.
3 Increase on-screen keyboard typing accuracy
Instead of having to peck at the tiny buttons and then finding that you have made a mistake, hold on to the button to see whether you have pressed the correct alphabet.
If not, simply slide to the left or right without removing your finger from the screen.
This also works if you want to capitalise a letter. Point to the up arrow (shift) button and then slide your finger to the letter you want to capitalise. This will save you a button press or two.
4 Customise the Home button
By default, double-clicking the Home button will bring up the Phone Favourites screen. Customise this button to go directly to the iPod screen if you are an avid music listener.
From the Settings icon, click on General, Home Button and then select iPod.
5 Quick-search for maps using postal codes
One nifty feature of the Maps application is that it finds the general location using the first two digits of your postal code. First, press the bottom circle icon to zoom in on your current location.
In the search button, enter the first two digits, say, 17 and then the Search button.
