Multiple alarms on your BlackBerry phones

By Sherwin Loh

For a smartphone, it should be easy to set it for multiple, recurring alarms but the default Alarm setting on the BlackBerry allows for only one.

There is actually a way to set multiple alarms on the BlackBerry using the Calendar settings without the need to buy any third party applications.

First, go to Calendar and pick the day you want to set the recurring alarm and select the time of your alarm.

Click New Alarm on the menu and name this particular alarm.

Scroll down to Recurrence and select if the alarm should be a Daily, Weekly, Monthly or Yearly event.

If you pick Weekly, you can pick the days of the week the alarm will run, be it once, twice to every day of the week.

With this, there is the option to set multiple recurring alarms in a week.

For example, you can choose to have the alarm ring at a certain time each Monday and Tuesday, another time each Wednesday and Thursday, and at yet another time for weekends.

If you set the alarm Monthly, there is the option to sound the alarm on the same date each month or choose to have it ring say, every third Friday of each month, for that early morning golf game with a buddy. The same goes for the choice of Yearly.

Once the alarms are set, it is also easy to adjust them accordingly. When I was serving my reservist stint two weeks ago, I manually changed the alarm settings for that week with ease.
