YOU need a new LED TV for your living room. Do you buy it now? Or wait six months for the price to drop?
If you wait, that TV you're eyeing may be overtaken by a newer one with more features and, of course, a higher price.
With deals on electronics to be had every week it can be a hard choice to make
How does a consumer time his or her purchase then, to avoid buying an older model while still saving money?
According to Ms Joanne Ho, 36, marketing consultant for Audio House, there is no hard and fast rule for making purchases.
She said: 'It's very difficult to say because there is no magic answer, really. Every brand has a different road map, so it's tough to estimate when new products will come onto the market.
'What you should do is look at your budget and your needs, and make the purchase accordingly. If you're intent on having the latest technology, it makes sense to snap up the latest products as soon as they're introduced.
'If you're not concerned about the features, opting for older models would be a wiser choice.'
Ms Ho's opinion was echoed by Ms Cassandra Koh, business development manager of Audio Technica, who said: 'You can never catch up with technology. Even if you purchase the latest models, they will become older once newer models hit the market anyway.
'What we usually do at road shows and fairs like Santa's Village is to use the opportunity to launch new products with a good deal, so that consumers can enjoy the best of both worlds.'
