Now, a touch of screen changes camera mode

Panasonic DMC-G2 camera

THE DMC-G2 is the world's first interchangeable lens camera with touch control.

This Micro Four Thirds camera has a double Live View function provided by the 3inch, 460,000-dot LCD and a 1,440,000-dot Live View Finder.

Touch the screen and you can select the part and size of the AF area.

A second touch enables you to track the subject as it moves.

With the Intelligent Scene selector, the camera can automatically switch to the appropriate mode, according to the subject touched.

Touching a human face makes the camera switch to portrait mode and touching a background makes it switch to scenery mode.

The touch function eliminates the need to go to the main menu to make changes.

In playback mode, a picture can be accessed by touching a thumbnail.

You can also drag images across the screen with your finger to browse pictures.

A camera which incorporates such iPhone-like touch features could be a harbinger of things to come.

How much: To be announced when available in May.
