At an anticipated retail price of 135 euros (S$256), the C5 - which will arrive here in the second quarter of 2010 - is also Nokia's first entry in the 'C' series.

The 'C' series is the latest addition to the Nokia family of devices which bear a clear, easily understandable naming convention, joining the 'X', 'E', and 'N' series already in the market.

The corresponding numbers, from 1 to 9, reflect the range of functionality on offer, and the approximate prices of the devices - 1 being the lowest and 9 being the highest.

The new 'C' series represents the core of Nokia's portfolio, focusing on social interaction between friends and family.

With direct access to favorite contacts on the device homescreen and Facebook status updates visible from the phonebook, the Nokia C5 keeps people connected with the ones who matter the most.

A customisable homescreen will show off your favourite three friends for easy access to calling and messaging whilst Nokia Messaging enables you to keep in touch on IM using Google Talk or Windows Live Messenger.

Accessing social networking sites, such as Facebook and MySpace, is fast and easy, while instant messaging and email accounts from Ovi Mail and other email providers are available through Nokia Messaging.

Loaded with a 3.2 megapixel camera, a 2GB memory card that comes in-box and high speed data connection for uploading of photos and videos to various online communities.

The Nokia C5 offers the latest version of Ovi Maps with free walk and drive navigation, including location sharing with Facebook friends.

The nifty device is small too, measuring just over 12mm thin and 46mm across (and 112mm high).

Battery life is good for up to 12 hours talktime (GSM) and it'll stay on standby for a whopping 26 days between charges.

The Nokia C5 will be available in white and warm grey.

*135 euros anticipated retail price before applicable taxes and subsidies.

The actual retail price will be confirmed closer to the phone's availability date, Nokia told AsiaOne.
