The full-frame camera boasts specs like a 21.1-megapixel resolution, a beefed up processor and even high-definition (HD) video-recording.
It is the first DSLR to record full-HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) videos at 30 frames per second (fps).
And it is one of a handful of cameras that use the Digic 4 processor, responsible for features such as an expanded sensitivity range of 50 to 25,600, lower noise levels and continuous shooting at 3.9fps.
Other cameras the red camp launched include the PowerShot SX1 IS (price unavailable) and SX10 IS ($769) superzooms, the G10 ($299) prosumer, and the Ixus 980 IS ($659) and Ixus 870 IS ($599) compacts.
