YET another BlackBerry device has reached our shores.
The Curve 8520, which will be available from telcos at the end of the month, may well lack 3G functions but it is in many ways an improvement over previous models.
It is smaller and lighter than the Bold, Storm and the 8900, with a full QWERTY keypad and touch-sensitive trackpad instead of a trackball.
There are dedicated media keys, support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 10 popular e-mail services (Gmail, Yahoo! and Hotmail among them).
The microSDcard slot can support cards of up to 32GB.
This model suits those who use the device primarily for e-mail and who can do without 3G.
In any case, surfing on the BlackBerry is not a great experience, what with its small screen and slow speed.
In the realm of e-mail, however, the BlackBerry still reigns supreme because of the high level of connectivity of its push mail and its worldwide coverage.
But watch out: smartphones are catching up fast.
