MSI, better known for its Wind netbook, came out with a slim notebook, the X340, sometime back.
It was MSI's version of the Macbook Air.
Now, there is a refreshed model available - the X400.
This notebook has a better keyboard, which is not as flimsy as that on its predecessor, and better specifications too.
Running on Windows 7, the X400 has a 2GB memory, 500GB Sata hard disk, 1.3M webcam, SD/SDHC/MMC card reader and ample number of ports, including HDMI.
The different user experience comes largely from the new OS. Things move faster and Windows 7 seems less clunky than Vista, although the verdict is still not in.
The big question is: Would one pay almost $1,400 for a laptop which sits in between a netbook and a full-fledged notebook with drive?
Like I mentioned before in the X340 review, if the X400 were priced closer to $1,000, it would have a much better chance of winning over would-be buyers.
It is a nice-looking machine with good features - if only it were cheaper.
