THERE are no easy shortcuts to losing weight. But while nothing can replace sweating it out at the gym to shave those pounds off the scale, there are certain foods you can consume to make your life a whole lot easier, says a recent article in Men's Health.

These 15 superfoods chosen by the magazine are not only beneficial, but are relatively inexpensive and can be easily found in supermarkets.

1. HORSERADISH

THE benefits of this little-used ingredient should not be underestimated. Not only is it very low in the calorie-counter department - just 6 per teaspoon, according to website AstroNutrition - but it also can dissolve the fat inside your cells, says Men's Health. Coming from the same family as wasabi, it has a spicy taste, which has been proven to curb appetites, says AstroNutrition.

How to use it:

Try smearing it across your steak sandwich, or scooping a bunch of it onto your fish pie, suggests Men's Health.

However, do note that people with stomach disorders should avoid consuming it. Due to its overpowering flavour, it can sometimes upset your stomach, says AstroNutrition.
