Melamine has been found in two more products imported from China, bringing the total number of affected products found locally to 10.
The new tainted products are New Sshma Ows Mallow Dippers - Strawberry Flavour; and Silang - House of Steamed Potato - Potato and Tomato Cracker, reported the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA).

As with the other affected products found in Singapore, the levels of melamine detected in the affected products are not high enough to result in any adverse health effect. For example, a child can tolerate 50 cups of New Sshma Ows' strawberry-flavoured dip everyday over a lifetime, while an adult can tolerate 101 cups of dip daily.
However, the amount of melamine found in the 10 products is higher than what can be considered as naturally occurring. As melamine is not allowed for use in food, the AVA suspended the import and sale of all milk and milk products from China with effect from Sept 19.
AVA also clarified that companies should verify with them before making claims that their China-made products are safe.
Milk or milk products that are produced in China are suspended from import and sale in Singapore. AVA said it will not hesitate to take enforcement actions against any company that violates this ban.
