PEANUT-BUTTER products here have been given the green light despite the recall of 16 such products in the United States last week because of possible salmonella contamination.
According to the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA), there have been no imports of peanut-butter products from the affected Georgia manufacturing facility in the US into Singapore.
Still, the AVA says it will step up its checks on US food products containing peanut butter to ensure they are safe for consumption.
It also advises consumers to discard the affected products - including snack-sized packs of Famous Amos peanut-butter cookies - if they had purchased them overseas.
But New Moon Brand Premium Abalone Broth has been pulled off shelves after buyers detected a foul smell when they opened the can.
The AVA advises consumers not to consume the product.
