Dead smoker is poster boy in HPB's latest campaign
SMOKER Mohammad Abdooh and his wife, Elly Sukmawarni had plans to set up another chicken stall and go on their second honeymoon.
Their plans were shattered when he contracted lung cancer and died at the age of 46 in 2006.
Mr Abdooh's touching story will not be forgotten - it will be told during the Health Promotion Board's latest media campaign, starting on Thursday (see poster below).
The HPB hopes to increase the perceived self-vulnerability among smokers and encourage them to quit smoking through the month-long campaign.
It wants to urge smokers to stop their habit before it is too late.
It said in a media release that 'although knowledge on the risks of smoking is high among smokers in Singapore, many do not internalise their vulnerability to smoking-related diseases and the distress they leave for family members'.
