New Straits Times
>AIDS and tuberculosis are not on the Health Ministry's top 10 death causing disease list. Health Minister Datuk Liow Tiong Lai, in his reply to Datuk Eric Enchin Majimbun (BN-Sepanggar), said the percentage of deaths due to AIDS and tuberculosis were very small compared to deaths caused by stroke and cardiovascular diseases.

He said out of 40,586 deaths in 2006 6,372 deaths were due to heart related diseases and 3,444 due to stroke.

Deaths due to HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis stood at 482 and 724, respectively.
