Singapore has a fourth death among H1N1 patients, said the Ministry of Health (MOH) in its latest statement.

She is a 42-year-old Chinese female with hypertension and thyroid disease.

The woman sought medical treatment at Changi General Hospital's (CGH) Emergency Department on July 18 after five days of fever, cough, sore throat and shortness of breath.

She was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on the same day.

She passed away earlier in the morning.

The cause of death is pneumonia, with Influenza A (H1N1-2009) infection as a contributing factor, said MOH.

New ICU cases

MOH also reported two more admissions to ICU today.

One is a 24-year-old Indian man with no known risk factors.

He sought treatment at Tan Tock Seng Hospital's (TTSH) Emergency Department on yesterday after one day of cough, headache and fever.

He was transferred to the ICU earlier today. Laboratory tests confirmed he has Influenza A (H1N1-2009).

He is currently in a stable condition, according to the ministry.

The other is a 28-year-old female Indian foreigner with no known risk factors.

She sought treatment at CGH's Emergency Department yesterday after a four-day history of fever, cough and shortness of breath.

She was admitted to the ICU on the same day because of low oxygen saturation. Laboratory tests confirmed she has Influenza A (H1N1-2009).

She is currently on a ventilator and is in critical condition, said the ministry.

Out of ICU

Meanwhile, the 51-year-old female with asthma admitted to TTSH's ICU on July 20 has been transferred to a general ward.

There are currently five H1N1 patients still in ICU. Two are in SGH, two are in TTSH and one is in CGH.
