A GENERAL practitioner was suspended for three months and censured for inappropriately prescribing Subutex, a banned drug.

Dr Tay Ser Wee, who practised at The Flame Tree Medical Centre in Thomson, pleaded guilty to 11 charges of failing to exercise due care in the management of his patients, the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) said in a statement on Friday.

An SMC disciplinary inquiry found that Dr Tay's management of the patients was inappropriate and he did not document sufficient details of the patients' diagnosis.
