ALOR STAR, MALAYSIA - When Aishah Yasin was wheeled into the delivery room she was calm as this was her fifth delivery. But what a shocker it turned out to be when she delivered a baby boy weighing a whopping 6.15kg after being 10 hours in labour.

The baby is the heaviest to have been delivered at Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital to date.

The 35-year-old housewife, who had a normal delivery, said she was shocked when she was informed that her baby weighed 6.15kg.

Aishah, accompanied by her husband Mohd Ali Khan Ghazali, 41, who works with a forwarding company, said she was thankful that their latest addition to the family was born safe.

"The doctor gave me a lot of encouragement when I was in the labour room," she said, adding that her four other children were of normal weight when they were born.

Aishah said she did not eat anything unusual during her pregnancy.

However, she admitted to indulging in her favourite "buah kedondong" (hog plum fruit). She also drank lots of milk and iced tea.

She said she sort of got "addicted" to the fruit and was eating it throughout her pregnancy.

"My husband would sometimes go all the way to Penang to buy the fruit for me."

The couple have yet to name the baby.
