Using your Medisave in Malaysia
  • Medisave can be used only for hospitalisations and day surgery, not outpatient treatments.

  • The Malaysian hospital must have an approved working arrangement with a Medisave-accredited institution or referral centre here.

  • The patient must be referred through such an institution or referral centre.

  • The Singapore centre must provide pre-admission clinical assessment and financial counselling.

  • The Singapore centre will track and be accountable for patient satisfaction and clinical outcome. It is expected to help patients address any issues.

  • If patients decide to take legal action, it will be under the laws of the country where the treatment is given.

  • The Medisave withdrawal limit for inpatient hospitalisation is $450 per day ($300 per day for day surgery).

  • The additional limit for surgical procedures ranges from $250 to $7,550.

  • Medisave claims are made by Singapore institutions which collect the amount from the Central Provident Fund Board. These claims will be audited by the Health Ministry.
