Former Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew recently revealed that he currently suffers from the nervous disease sensory peripheral neuropathy.

He is not alone.

Experts say that over a thousand people in Singapore suffer from the same condition.

Those above the age of 60 are more at risk of developing the disease. It could also be the result of genetic conditions or exposure to trauma.

Numbness, burning pain and problems walking are a few of the symptoms of the disease.
