How I got rid of my 'pouch'

By Ria Francisco-Prieto

AFTER TWO Caesarian sections, I noticed a "pouch" on top of my scar. This really bothered me so I have been planning to work out in a gym or join a fitness class, but I was not able to do it.

Then I was introduced to Thermage, which has been offered to me for months now. To be honest, I was wary about it. What made me go through it is that it is non-invasive, has the promise of topical anesthesia plus I can have it stopped any time.

I have low tolerance for pain. After getting prepped for an hour with topical anesthesia for cauterization, I left after three zaps. Out of desperation I finally gathered my guts and said yes to Thermage.

After an hour of topical anesthesia, a grid was placed on my tummy. After holding my breath and feeling nothing, I was so happy and amazed I was just chatting the whole time.

When it was done, I went straight to my lunch appointment. It was that painless and simple. All I had to do was lie down.

Does it work? It's been two weeks and my "pouch" is less noticeable. I will see the full result in three months.

Two-hour procedure

Tummy by Thermage helps smoothen, tighten, and contour skin on the tummy.

The procedure, including the prepping, was finished in two hours. A hand-piece with a smooth flat tip delivers radio frequency energy, which heats the deeper layers of skin. This stimulates existing collagen and promotes its growth.

The procedure is done on the right and left sides and more attention is given to certain areas as needed.

A doctor will tell you what you will need and this is why the price varies. Remember, the more "zaps" you get, the better for your stomach. If your doctor tells you to share a session with another patient, look for another clinic because this is not recommended.
