Insisted on discharge

However, Madam Teo insisted on being discharged as she was uncomfortable staying in the hospital. The family took her home on 11 Aug.

A CGH spokesman told The New Paper that hospital staff had tried to dissuade the family from leaving.

Soon after, the Ongs took Madam Teo to Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), where vascular surgeons said her gangrene was quite advanced.

Now Madam Teo is treated at TTSH once a week where she receives medication to stop the gangrene from progressing.

Each visit costs about $360, including $60 for a non-emergency ambulance to take her there.

A CGH spokesman said: 'We advise her to seek treatment soon as gangrene may cause serious medical problems if left untreated.'

Although Madam Teo has discontinued treatment at CGH, The New Paper observed staff from the hospital paying her a goodwill visit.
