Massage those wrinkles away

By Cheong Poh Kwan, Multimedia Journalist

Acupressure as an anti-wrinkle treatment?

Those who do not want to splurge on anti-aging potions or subject themselves to the syringe can consider this cost-saving alternative.

Indeed, some knowledge of acupressure can go a long way towards pain-free living.

For instance, a simple massage on the right acupoints can clear the blockage of 'qi', or energy flow along the associated meridian lines, providing pain relief to various symptoms including headache, backache, stiff neck, gastric pain, menstrual cramp among other things.

And you do not even need a pair of helping hands to administer the treatment, says traditional Chinese medicine physician Patrick Ng. An acupuncturist, Patrick says it is safe to massage your own acupoints, as long as you do it with just your bare hands.
