An affordable way to update your wardrobe

Q I'm on a shoestring budget. Is there an affordable way to update my wardrobe this season?

A Most definitely. What you need to get is a belt - the must-have accessory for fall that was seen repeatedly on runways to streamline voluminous silhouettes.

The modern update on the belt: It should sit on the waist, or even higher for that waspish high-waisted look.

Go for thin or super broad versions that give a corset-like effect. Also look out for interesting elements like boxy buckles or graphic bows, or hardware details that contrast with the season's feminine, tailored looks.

And, instead of settling for standard black or brown shades, shop around for patent or exotic skin finishes in a variety of colours like neon brights.
