The ex-wife and I
When Pam met Kenneth, he was single, but divorced.
No problem there, except his ex-wife would call during dinner every night with updates of their son's every activity.
Or, he would get a call and rush to fix a broken light in the apartment he used to share with the ex.
"Soon, he got regular SMSes from her advising him on our relationship, even telling him not to date on the rebound and get too serious with me," said the exasperated 28-year-old.
Why is Kenneth's ex-wife making her presence felt in this way?
Pam said: "I think she wants me to know that she is still very much a part of Kenneth's life.
"I don't complain because I don't want to play into her game and ruin my chances with Kenneth."
Counsellor Chong Cheh Hoon from non--profit organisation Focus on the Family said: "The old relationship should not be brought into the new. She has to clearly articulate her expectations to Kenneth."
Relationship coach Kloudiia Tay believes that Kenneth should realise his marriage is over, and what's left is his responsibility as a father. Spending time with his son is alright, but not if his ex-wife needs help with a broken light.
