The competition is part of the upcoming Singapore Fashion Week, which runs from October 12 - 21. Not to be confused with Singapore Fashion Festival, this annual event showcases up-and-coming design talents from Singapore and Asia, and has been a mainstay in the fashion industry as a platform for young designers to gain some regional and international exposure.

Fresh! - The Graduate Showcase, although not a new event in this year's line-up, promises to give young fashion graduates an exclusive sneak peak into the world of retail and fashion. Four design schools, LaSalle College of the Arts, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Raffles Design Institute and Temasek Polytechnic, will come together to present their top graduates and the best of student fashion work.

Students from four schools have submitted five entries for three categories - namely womenswear, menswear and mixed collections. The Topshop/Topman Internship Award goes to the best overall collection. The winner gets to be attached to the London design team, and also see his/her work displayed in the retailer's Singapore's outlets.
Members of the public can get in on the act as well. Try and pick the winners of the three categories will be by logging onto www.fashionfastforward.com.sg/fresh. The winning entry will receive an outfit from the winner's collection, as well as Topshop/Topman vouchers. Entries must be submitted online by October 12, 2007.

The finals will be held at VivoCity's Central Court, Level 1 this Saturday, October 13 (3pm) at Level 1.
Other events in the line-up this year includes the Singapore Fashion Designers Contest - a nationwide search for Singapore's young fashion talent. Previous winners such as Jonathan Seow and K.Mi Huang have gone on to establish their fashion careers both locally and overseas.

This year's contest will received 41 entries. Finalists will present 12 outfits at VivoCity on Saturday (8pm) as well and the winner will win $8,000 cash, a design scholarship and an overseas internship programme. The winner and first runner-up will also represent Singapore in the Asian Young Fashion Designers Contest to be held on Monday, October 15 at VivoCity.
