Lifestyle and active wear

Fashion meets utility at Fat Face's first flagship store in Singapore.

Located at the Suntec City Galleria, the store stocks clothes, accessories and footwear for the outdoor-oriented from men's and womenswear to togs for toddlers - T-shirts and cotton blouses, khaki dresses and bottoms and denim jeans.

Prices start at $73.90 for a T-shirt, but the staff says the quality of the clothing justifies the steep prices. Care is taken to make both the inside and outside of an apparel just as beautiful, which comes from the British label's effort to design their clothes "with love inside and out".

Fashionable mums will probably like the apparel range for children, as these hardy, yet trendy, togs make them durable enough as good candidates for hand-me-downs to younger siblings, without sacrificing comfort or fashion. Best of all, it helps to save a bundle on new purchases.

New ESPRIT membership card

The fashion label is re-launching its membership card program with a new name and look in October 2007. Now known as the Esprit Club, the new program offers more privileges for members. Members will receive two $10 shopping vouchers and a 10% discount voucher as a gift to a non-member friend. Memberships will also be valid for two years, instead of one. And cardholders can enjoy free Internet access, locker service and light refreshments at ESPRIT Club lounge in its Raffles City store. Membership is through $150nett purchase at any ESPRIT store. Existing members will be invited to change their cards.

Customise your shopping experience

Local label Tskye (read: "Sky") has brought a 'real' dimension to online shopping. Designer Alexia Ho has opened her first boutique showroom at 17 Kuo Chuan Avenue for shoppers who need to 'feel' their purchases before buying.

The designer, who interned with bridal gown designer Vera Wang and worked for a time in New York's fashion industry, founded her online store in 2003, www.tskye.com. But the designer wanted to give customers an opportunity to try on the goods before buying, hence the bricks-and-mortar set-up near Marine Parade.

Her collections offer feminine details of silks, embroidery and whimsical motifs in blouses, skirts and classic dresses.

Interested buyers can still check out the collections online, but call for an appointment before heading down to the store as it offers a personal and private shopping experience.
