Dye-ing for a solution
The next time your roots grow out and you're scheduled for a dye touch-up, try out Promaster pigment, a colouring treatment that uses Hoyu's professional range of colours. Its "Synergy Point" formulation tops up colour for hair roots, but does not pile on colour for hair ends that are already coloured. The treatment also refreshes dull coloured hair so your locks look as good as new. The dyes have high colour concentration but low peroxide levels of between 2 per cent to 6 per cent that minimises damage to hair and scalp.

Colouring services are available at Anthony Hair Boutique from $150 onwards. Call 6235 5188 for an appointment.

Inspired by the burst of colours that are coming off the runways this season, L'Oréal Professionnel has introduced the Tri-Color Technique with the new Rosé Collection.

A base colour shade is used to set off two other complementary or contrasting highlights. Four looks have been created by the brand's id artist team.

Sassy Rosé with crimson red and burgundy brown on a rich auburn base, Seductive Rosé with persimmon copper and sangria rouge on a tanned brown base, Sophisticated Rosé with golden beige and magenta red on an earth brown base, and Sportive Rosé, with ruby brown and golden copper on a rich maroon brown base.

Make-up that cares - Laneige

From left (clockwise): Snow Crystal Dual Foundation, Professional Selection Eye Shadow and Snow Crystal Melting Glossy Lipstick from Laneige

I must say I was very impressed with the range Snow Crystal make-up from Laneige.  I have sensitive skin, coupled with an oily base that shows shine very shortly after applying most foundations. This means that I hardly wear foundation for too long as time, especially if I am at work. Otherwise, I will be spending every hour blotting my make-up to remove shine. A waste of time, if you ask me.

But Laneige's Snow Crystal Dual Foundation actually managed to keep shine on my face to a minimum - for the whole day.

I liked the application too. The foundation is dispensed through a pump applicator at the top of the bottle. Very handy. Plus, the bottle cap opens to reveal a cream concealer within - a thoughtful touch from Laneige.

The foundation kept my skin feeling moist throughout the day, and the concealer did not run. But my face did not look shiny even after a day's wear. There is a Honey Comb structure within the foundation that brings moisturising ingredients together and allows moisture to run through skin all day.

The resulting look was natural with sufficient coverage for blemishes.

I also liked the Snow Crystal Melting Glossy Lipstick, which gave my lips colour and a glossy finish. The look was moist-looking and the colour was sheer yet vibrant enough to give my lips a natural-looking tint.

Another promising item was the Professional Selection Eye Shadow, for its ease of use and long-lastingness. The textured pearl shadow did not cake, and the shimmer gave a nice, natural glow to my lids.

Laneige Snow Crystal Dual Foundation retails for $55 (30ml), while the Snow Crystal Melting Glossy Lipstick retails for $32 (4g) and the Eye Shadow is $25 (2g). Available now at all leading department stores.

Pop Candy from Anna Sui

You can trust Anna Sui to create the best-looking make-up. The new Spring/Summer '08 collection introduces a lot of sparkling, candy colours to your make-up and is sure to spice up your palette.

The new Glitter Eye Colour Stick does double duty as an eye colour as well as a glitter stick that you can use anywhere else. The base is transparent, and the lame is left in abundance upon application.

The stick is shaped in Anna Sui's signature rose, and will look cute in any girl's make-up kit.

Retails at $35 (4.5g) at major department stores.

Eye care and Makeup remover - with all the goodness of carrots

With such an attention-grabbing name, you would be hard-pressed to miss this newcomer. Eye can C Clearly Now eye cream and Can you C Me Eye and Face Makeup Remover uses the goodness of carrots to care for your skin.

The Eye Contour Cream was a pleasure to use. With a light, creamy scent, the water-based cream was easily absorbed by the skin around my eyes. I tried the cream overnight, and my eyebags looked a little less puffy the next morning.

The Can you C Me Eye and Face Makeup Remover had the same, creamy scent. Using it just before a shower, the remover melted into my skin when I applied with a cotton pad and washed off easily as well. It removed all my make-up except for my mascara. So there was not much complaint with this other than the last bit.

Both products were formulated using organic citrus fruits and vegetables, while Dead Sea mud was used for its anti-ageing properties. It also uses non-toxic Vitamin A, to make the product safe for long-term use.

The Eye Contour Cream contains carrot seed oil, carrot juice and 26 powerful Dead Sea minerals, as well as cucumber juice, chamomile and green tea, while the Eye and Face Makeup Remover contains a blend of carrot juice, pumpkin, sweet potato and rosemary. But at relatively affordable prices, I'm not complaining much.

Eye can C Clearly Now retails at $24.90 (50ml), while the Can you C Me Eye and Face Makeup Remover retails for $16.90 (50ml). Available at all leading Watsons Stores.
