KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysian singer Ning Baizura said her husband-to-be is a divorcee with two young daughters.

The 33-year-old revealed this on Tuesday, two days before her wedding today to Omar Sharif Christopher Layton Dalton, 34, who is British.

She said she wanted to reveal this before the wedding to prevent any future misunderstandings.

'I'm aware that there are some people who have known about his marital status before this. But they have never asked me about it,' she said.

'As it might not be so nice if this issue is raised only after we have tied the knot, I've decided to reveal his marital status,' she told reporters during a henna-drawing ceremony.

She said Dalton had told her he was divorced when they first met at a friend's wedding in Bali in 2006.

'I have no problems accepting him and his two daughters. In fact, I'm excited to be called 'instant mother',' the Harian Metro daily quoted her as saying. His daughters are aged five and four.

Dalton was divorced from his first wife two years ago.

The couple's marriage will be solemnised at a mosque in Kuala Lumpur.
