LOS ANGELES - ACTRESS Heather Locklear is undergoing treatment for anxiety and depression, her spokesman confirmed on Tuesday.

The 46-year-old blonde star, best known for her roles in the hit US television soap opera 'Melrose Place' and sitcom 'Spin City,' is being evaluated at a facility in Arizona, Ms Sarah Fuller said in an email to AFP.

'Heather has been dealing with anxiety and depression. She requested an in-depth evaluation of her medication and entered into a medical facility for proper diagnosis and treatment,'

Ms Fuller said. 'This is a confidential medical matter and no further statement will be released.'

Last year Locklear confirmed her divorce from Bon Jovi rocker Richie Sambora, with whom she had one child, after 13 years of marriage.

Locklear was previously married to Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee from 1986 to 1993.
