Hong Kong - TVB leading lady Gigi Lai, 37, has announced she is retiring from showbiz to take care of her younger brother, who is recovering from serious brain injuries after a road accident.

The star of the Young And Dangerous movie series and TV serials such as War And Beauty, also said she would devote her time to running her brother's skin clinic, reported Ming Pao Daily News.

At a promotional activity for the serial The Gem Of Life, on Monday, she said: 'This is my last interview. The Gem Of Life is my last TV drama.' She said she had been considering retirement while filming the serial last year.

In May last year, her brother, Stephen, was in a taxi on his way home when the vehicle got into a crash. He suffered serious concussion and was in a coma for two months, said Apple Daily.
