SINGER Rihanna has cancelled her concert in Jakarta today for security reasons, said Indonesian promoter Showmaster.

"The concert will be postponed until January or February.

Rihanna's management considered Indonesia to be on high security alert.

"We suspect the sudden decision had something to do with the execution of three convicted terrorists on Sunday," spokesman Troy Waroka said in an e-mail reply to The New Paper.

A spokesman was quoted in the Jakarta Post as saying Rihanna's management told them that "security (in Indonesia) is not supportive".

Mr Waroka said they have sent a team to Singapore to lobby Rihanna's management to reverse its decision.

Rihanna is currently staying at Hotel InterContinental's presidential suite and performed at the Indoor Stadium yesterday.

She leaves on Saturday for a concert in Manila.

Mr Waroka said: "A laborious and costly preparation had been arranged for the Friday concert, including the rental of a private jet scheduled to pick up Rihanna from Singapore, complete with a security unit on par with those used to escort state officials."

He said the cancellation would mean billions of rupiah worth of losses but added a full refund will be given to all who bought tickets to the sold-out concert.

Since December 2007, Rihanna's world tour has taken her to Europe, UK, New Zealand and Australia.

Her electrifying performances have wowed audiences but she has also been dogged with health concerns.

Last December, she cancelled three gigs in England on her doctor's advice.

And during her recent concert in Sydney, Rihanna clutched her stomach and rushed off stage leaving duet partner Chris Brown to finish the show alone.
