Poly graduate crowned Miss Earth Singapore 2007

The winner of Miss Earth Singapore 2007 was a 21-year-old marketing graduate from Temasek Polytechnic, whose intellect, grace and poise impressed the judges.

In the final round of the pageant last Saturday, winner Miss Nicole Chen Lim spoke at length about an environmental issue, with the aid of a photograph. Her quick thinking and grasp of environmental knowledge helped her to claim the ultimate prize. She beat 16 other contestants.

She also won two subsidiary awards, Miss Elegance and Miss Catwalk.

Ms Chen wins $10,000 worth of cash and prizes, and also the chance to represent Singapore on the international stage in Manila on November 11 at Miss Earth 2007. She will fly to Manila in mid-October for three weeks of training with 90 other contestants from around the world.

Ms Lim said: "The whole pageant has been an amazing experience for me. I love the earth and am very excited to win the title because it gives me a chance to represent Singapore as an ambassador to champion a cause very close to my heart - to make a difference to the earth."
