Nine Singapore jewellers have come up with special designs to commemorate Singapore's 42nd birthday, to be showcased at Suntec Singapore from Aug 23 to 26.

Designs by Citigems, Goldheart, Lee Hwa, On Cheong, Poh Heng, SK, Soo Kee, Taka and Tianpo will be shown.

Co-organised by Singapore International Jewellers and Conference & Exhibition Management Service, it aims to show that local jewellers can come up with high-quality, well-designed pieces.

But no worries, there is not one gaudy golden orchid in sight. Urban takes an exclusive first look.

This ring from Tianpo's Garden of Euphoria collection has a blooming flower to signify Singapore's cosmopolitan garden city image. Price: $3,480	Made with both precious and semi-precious stones, this Floral Decadance necklace from Taka Jewellery pays homage to the floral landscape in Singapore. This aptly titled Galaxy necklace from Citigems is inspired by the stars of the national flag. Instead of five, this has a constellation of 13 white gold and diamond stars. Price: $9,698	Named after Agnes Joaquim, the woman who discovered Singapore's national flower (the Vanda Miss Joaquim), the Purple Agnes from Lee Hwa represents Singapore's resilient and vibrant spirit. The Singapore International Jewellery Show 2007 will be held at Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre from Aug 23 to 25, from 11am to 8pm; and on Aug 26, from 11am to 7pm. Admission is free.
