Catwalk casualties

How hard is it to do the catwalk?

All you have to do is put on some clothes, walk to the end of the runway and do a U-turn.

Easy, right? Well, judging by the number of slip-ups spotted at this year's Singapore Fashion Festival, wrong.

Included in this year's honour-roll of casualties were two models who dropped their shoes halfway down the catwalk and countless others who fumbled with drapey fabrics that got in the way.

We bring you the highlights.

  • A Brazilian model's nipple stickers could be seen beneath the two sheer numbers that she wore for Chinese designer Qiu Hao's show two Sundays ago. Apparently, an additional opaque piece was supposed to be worn over her chest, but it was probably forgotten amidst the backstage mayhem.

  • A tube dress that Chinese model Kiki Kang wore at the Robinsons show two Saturdays ago was way too big. She walked the entire runway with arms akimbo, smacking of attitude. But we knew she was just holding the dress up, which still yielded a momentary boob flash.

  • At the Redken Tribe event last Saturday, it was a case of hit-and-strut. One model was striking a pose at the end of the runway when she turned, only to be walked into by the next approaching model.

  • Singapore's hottest model Sheila Sim left a shoe midway through the catwalk at Ashley Isham's show, a la Cinderella. And so did another model at Triumph.
