Female motorist hurls vulgarities and hits biker

The police were called in to break up a fight between a female driver and a motorcyclist at Orchard Road on Sunday afternoon.

A reader who arrived at the scene told citizen-journalism website STOMP that he saw "a motorcyclist and a female BMW driver arguing and taking photos of each other."

Chen said he was not sure what caused the fight to start but the motorcyclist took a photo of the female driver after she returned to her car.

The driver then "rushed out of her car and hit the motorcyclist's face" in front of everyone who was gathered at the scene.

Chen said the motorcyclist's glasses fell to the ground. The driver also pelted the motorcyclist with vulgarities and insults.

Worse still, the woman had three children in the car, "all of whom looked very young."

Security guards tried to pull the two apart. Police arrived at the scene "after some time," Chen added.

A police spokesman said they received a call at about 4.40pm on Jun 19, informing them of a dispute between a female driver and male motorcyclist outside CK Tangs along Orchard Road.

"Upon arrival, it was established that a scuffle had broken out.

"The male motorcyclist had redness on his arm, while the female driver had redness on her arms and left cheek.

"Both parties have been advised on legal recourse."

Should motorists instantly whip out their cameras upon any suspected wrongdoing? Such actions might encourage the other party to go overboard, as it happened above. Send your comments to a1admin@sph.com.sg or use the Your Say button below.
