Here comes the bride - in a yellow Lamborghini

By Cheryl Lim

SINGAPOREANS are turning to sports cars to jazz up their important occasions, such as their weddings.

According the Luxe Car Rental, the only company here that specialises in rental of top-end sports cars, wedding rentals form about 20 to 30 per cent of its revenue, and corporate functions make up about 10 to 15 per cent.

Indeed, the demand for rental for sports cars like Ferrari and Lamborghini has shot up in the past year, as Mr Denny Koh, sales director of Luxe Car Rental, revealed: "The number of our clients has increased 15 per cent every month over the past year."

The company has amassed a fleet of seven "supercars", which include a Ferrari F430 Spider and a Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder, since it opened for business a year ago.

Mr Koh said that its customers come from a broad base, and "can be anyone from white-collar professionals and expatriates to tourists".

One repeat customer, Mr Jeffrey Lin, 37, has rented two of Luxe Car Rental's sports cars - the Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder and the Ferrari F430 Spider.

The interior designer said: "I travel a lot, and only spend weekends here. This service is great for sports-car lovers who don't spend enough time in the country to justify buying many sports cars."

To celebrate its first anniversary, the company is offering a promotional rental rate of $388 for a full weekday on its Porsche Boxster S from now to the end of the year. It normally costs $688 to rent the same car on a weekday.
