Better way to return ez-link cards?

I PICKED up an adult ez-link card recently and returned it to the staff at the nearest MRT station.

The staff member took it, stuck it on a glass panel and said that it would be there until someone claims it.

I am not sure what happened after that.

All ez-link cards look the same, apart from their serial numbers.

A good idea would be to inscribe a person's mobile number on his ez-link card.

This would allow the finder of a lost card to be easily contacted, but could also lead to abuse.

I hope that someone can come up with an idea to resolve the issue.
