Curb noise from revving speedsters

By Mr Sebastian Tan

CAN something be done to curb the noise pollution caused by motorcyclists and drivers who rev up their engines as they speed down roads?

This occurs two to three times a week in HDB estates, especially in the middle of the night.

As I am living in a block which is quite close to the main road, I have often been subjected to this kind of noise pollution.

Noise pollution exacts a high opportunity cost.

It disrupts people's sleep, which leads to low energy levels, frayed nerves, loss of alertness and subsequent impairment of judgment.

People who work shifts are most badly affected by this menace.

There are also retirees like me, the sick and housewives with young children.

I urge officers on patrol to keep a lookout for these speed demons and take action against them.
