New up-ramp to West Coast viaduct

By Jan 2010, motorists heading west from Keppel Road towards Henderson Road may avoid the busy junctions along Telok Blangah Road.

Two new ramps will facilitate the re-routing. A new up-ramp to the West Coast viaduct - located at Telok Blangah between Wishart Road and Seah Im Road - will be opened to motorists on Nov 6, 11am.

The current up-ramp to West Coast viaduct will be closed as a result, said a spokesman for the Land Transport Authority (LTA). It will be converted to a down-ramp. Conversion works are expected to be completed in Jan 2010.

Similarly, traffic heading eastwards towards the city can make use of the new up-ramp to enter the viaduct to avoid the heavy traffic on Telok Blangah Road.

Directional and information signs will be placed in advance to alert and guide all motorists on the day of opening.

The reconfiguration of the ramps is part of the overall road improvement works in the Sentosa-HarbourFront area to cope with anticipated traffic growth when Resorts World opens in Sentosa in early 2010.

Improvement works are expected to improve traffic capacity of the road network in the area by about 30 per cent.
