Question: My car is 6-years-old and the air-conditioner is having a problem.
The air-con stops working when I drive into town or make many stops. Driving on the expressway is fine.
I have replaced the condenser, dryer, cooling fans, checked the gas for leakage and yet the problem still persists.
Someone told me that it might be the compressor clutch. Any advice on this?
Answer: Based on the age of your car, there is a possibility that the compressor magnetic clutch is having an intermittence fault.
Another possible reason for this problem is that the electrical relay that operates the magnetic clutch is not functioning properly.
We suggest you send your car to a workshop that specializes in air-con repair for checking if you haven?t done so.
