CAR dealer Andy Lim wanted to do something special for his second wedding anniversary this month.
He wanted to profess his love for his wife Evian Lee - publicly.
So he had his car decorated with their wedding photos, and literally went to town with it.
Said Mr Lim: "Evian had been nagging me for the last few months, saying I'm not romantic enough.
"So I decided to think of a way to surprise her. I came across this car graphic company, Genconcept, and decided to approach them."
His wife was ecstatic when she saw the car.
She said: "I don't feel embarrassed about it. I am very excited and proud about it as I'm telling the whole world, we're married and celebrating our second anniversary.
"It was just an ordinary dinner during our first anniversary. I love surprises so I would expect my husband to give me another big surprise next year."
Mr Lim said: "When we drove our car around, we attracted many onlookers, and some even took pictures and waved at us."
GenConcept managing director Soh Seng Jong said: "There are people who decorate their car for any occasion you can think of."
It can cost as little as $100 to have a basic vinyl design done or more than $2,000 for complicated inkjet printed stickers for the whole car.
The whole process, including the design, can be done within a day.
And if you don't want to put your own picture on your car, why not have your idol?s"
VALENTINE'S DAY GIFT
Ms Suanne Chai's favourite singer, Ayumi Hamasaki, is now all over her boyfriend's car. It was a Valentine's Day gift for her.
"I was overjoyed when I saw the final result. It was nicer than I had expected," she said.
Mr Chew Boon Kim, who works in the motor industry, had a more mundane reason to give his Suzuki Swift a new look - he was tired of bird droppings landing on it.
"The droppings contain acids, and will spoil the paintwork," he said.
So he decided to have the roof done up with his favourite cartoon character, Batz Maru.
The vinyl decals will last for 4 to 5 years.
"But I will get bored of it before that," he said. "And I will just change to another design."
Ms Veronica Tan decorated her Subaru R2 with Mickey and Minnie cut-outs.
And the best thing about that, she said, is that "my husband will never want to drive my car, because it's too cute!"
