my paper
Buses still have room for improvement

I REFER to the letter, 'Buses clean, safe and comfy' (my paper, Nov 2).

Leaking air-conditioners are rather common on buses and regular commuters will not be surprised by the presence of cockroaches on buses as well.

Buses can also be so packed that drivers do not allow more passengers to board, or just drive past bus stops without even stopping.

Most drivers have given up asking passengers to move in.

I once boarded a bus and had to stand on the steps. Though there was plenty of space at the rear, no one at the front bothered to move in, even when I asked.

Standing passengers should be mindful that when the bus doesn't move, the delay affects them too. Also, they should not stand at the exit and block the path of alighting passengers.

While it is true that air-conditioning makes travelling on buses more comfortable, are frills like TVMobile necessary?

The service can sometimes be a nuisance, as passengers stand at spots ideal for watching the TV, blocking the path of fellow commuters.
