Bus driver types SMS on the road

ARE public-bus drivers allowed to use mobile phones while driving?

I was on service No. 39 recently and, as the bus was travelling from Tampines Expressway to Seletar Expressway, the bus driver received an SMS.

He then tried to type out an SMS, with his eyes on the phone and one hand on the steering wheel. He also braked abruptly at times.

This is dangerous driving and the bus was full of passengers then.

Could SBS Transit look into the matter?
