The Hummer is here

By Tony Ng

Second time lucky. The wait has been long for Hummer enthusiasts in Singapore.

The much talked about Hummer H3 has finally been approved by the Land Transport Authority.

The Hummer H3 has already attracted buyers even though the cars are still in the port.

Mr Shawn Lim, a sales consultant for CyberCars said, "People have already placed orders for the Hummer H3 Luxury."

According to Mr Lim, some of these buyers are Jeep owners who are looking to buy a second car.

The Hummer H3 fits the bill as as purebred SUV (sports utility vehicle).

Mr Lim said, "The SUV is capable of both handling both urban and off-road terrain with its four-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive."

At the heart of the H3 stands a 3.7litre inline five-cyclinder engine that produces 242bhp.

Maximum torque stands at 328Nm at 5600rpm. Fuel consumption is rated at 5km/L.

However, all these numbers do not matter. From what we gleamed, the Hummer bewitches through its looks.

Mr Lim said, "Most customers are people who want something different on the road."

Which rings true - the masculinity of the smallest off-roader of the Hummer models stands out like a refreshing beacon in our MPV-ed (multi-purpose vehicles) roads.

And for some, that seems to be worth it. Even with a one-year wait.
