Bad service from both bus operators
Mon, Apr 13, 2009
my paper

I READ with utter disbelief that SMRT was fined $100 for an instance of overcrowding on one of its bus services, while SBS Transit was fined $4,500 for 45 service lapses between June and November last year.

Anyone who takes a bus during peak hours would find services run by both companies overcrowded.

The disparity in fines gives the impression that SMRT's bus services are significantly better than those of SBS Transit.

The Public Transport Council should look into this.
